Each season, friends of MTC gather to celebrate the theater at the Annual Gala and Auction, a benefit that supports MTC's artistic and education programs.
This season, our 45th Anniversary Gala will be held on May 5, 2012, and will feature a Celebrity/Playwright Challenge with three short plays written exclusively for the event by Bill Cain, Tarell Alvin McCraney and Steve Yockey. That evening, the drawing of our perennial "I Love New York" raffle will also be held. Learn more below.

Celebrity/Playwright Challenge
Be prepared for lots of surprises and laughter at MTC’s 45th Anniversary Gala + Auction.
To celebrate our 45th Anniversary, we’ve asked three of our favorite playwrights to write a 10-minute play based on an idea provided by a celebrity.
THE IDEA: The celebrities have challenged the playwrights by giving them off-the-wall, wacky ideas that are difficult to make into plays.
THE CHALLENGE: The playwrights have 10 minutes, three actors and three chairs to tell the story. Nothing else!
THE PERFORMANCE: At the Gala, you’ll hear the celebrity’s challenge, then watch MTC actors perform the play that these brave and generous playwrights have written.
