Artistic Director Jasson Minadakis and Managing Director Ryan Rilette have announced the winners of MTC’s first annual new play prizes. The Sky Cooper New American Play Prize has been awarded to Zayd Dohrn for Magic Forest Farm. Mr. Dohrn will receive a $10,000 award in addition to a world premiere of his play next season in MTC’s Lieberman Theatre.

The David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize goes to A. Zell Williams for his play Blood/Money. Mr. Williams will receive a $2,500 award, with inclusion in Marin Theatre Company’s Nu Werkz staged reading series during the 08-09 season.

These prizes are both annual awards and serve to further MTC’s commitment to the development of new plays as a central component of its artistic programs.
