2012 Summer Theater Camp
MARIN THEATRE COMPANY OPENS ENROLLMENT
FOR 2012 SUMMER THEATER CAMP
Youth and Middle School programs introduce
students grades 2-8 to musical theater
MILL VALLEY, CA— Enrollment is now open to Marin Theatre Company’s 2012 Summer Theater Camp for students entering grades 2-8 in Fall 2012.
MTC is currently offering one Youth Musical session on July 2-21 to students entering grades 2-5 and one Middle School Musical session on July 23-August 11 to students entering grades 6-8. Running Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for three weeks, each session is a full-day training program that culminates in fully produced performances. Each session features quality training with professional theater artists during the morning and rehearsals during the afternoon. Students engage their imaginations, study their craft and work together to put on a production. Classes include improvisation, musical theater, dance, design, playwriting and acting techniques. Students in the Youth Musical session will perform a musical adaptation of Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking and students in the Middle School Musical session will perform a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass. Final performances are fully produced with costumes, lights and sets.
A popular summer program, MTC’s Summer Theater Camp regularly receives praise from participants – “The camp is fun, exciting, and I love that there’s so many different subjects. I get confidence out of it. I like that it makes me feel happy.” – and parents – “Truly an amazing experience!”
“Our teaching artists do a great job of introducing theater to kids who have never been on stage before, while also challenging the more experienced students to take their performance skills to the next level,” says MTC’s Director of Education Josh Costello. “What I love most about this program is the broad variety of classes the students get to take in the mornings. Last year, we had everything from puppetry to stage combat!”
