The Spahr Center, San Rafael

The Spahr Center was formed in March 2015 through the merger of Marin AIDS Project (MAP) and Spectrum LGBT Center. From the beginning, we had a strong connection through our mutual founder, Jane Spahr. In 1982, she created Ministry of Light which became Spectrum LGBT Center. In 1984, in response to the AIDS epidemic, Jane Spahr also founded Marin AIDS Support Network, later renamed Marin AIDS Project. The decision to name our blended organization for Jane Spahr, a courageous and inspirational leader, seemed only appropriate and natural. From the beginning, MAP was the only AIDS service organization in the county and Spectrum, Marin’s only LGBT Center. Through the years, MAP and Spectrum worked side by side, each providing programs, services, support and advocacy. MAP concentrated on providing health related services and HIV prevention and education. Spectrum focused on advocacy, education and supportive services for the LGBTQ community in both Marin and the North Bay. 

LGBTQ Connection, Napa & Sonoma Counties

LGBTQ Connection, an initiative fueled by youth and other emerging leadership, fosters a healthier, more vibrantly diverse and inclusive community. Each year, LGBTQ Connection engages 3,500 LGBTQ people, their families and community, and trains 500 providers from local organizations across Northern California to increase the safety, visibility and well being of LGBTQ residents. In Napa and Sonoma Counties the program operates local LGBTQ community centers, supporting underserved LGBTQ youth and elders. The Napa and Sonoma offices of LGBTQ Connection each provide a safe and trusted space to cultivate hubs of vibrant activities and caring community.

LYRIC’s mission is to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career trainings, health promotion, and leadership development with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQI) youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities.

Our Family Coalition advances equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) families with children through support, education, and advocacy. We seek to create an inclusive and just world where all LGBTQ families with children have visibility and opportunities to thrive as valued participants in our schools, institutions, and communities.

Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, chapters across the Bay Area

Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education, and advocacy. PFLAG has 400 chapters and 200,000 supporters crossing multiple generations of American families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. This vast grassroots network is cultivated, resourced, and serviced by PFLAG National, located in Washington, D.C., the National Board of Directors and 13 volunteer Regional Directors.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since our first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted ourselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment.
