Jackie Katz
Education DirectorJackie Katz is a radical educator, human rights activist and social practice artist. She has spent the last 8 years as a full time Theatre Teacher in private and public schools in San Francisco. She also teaches a College Theatre Course in San Quentin Prison. She is the founder and facilitator of Teatro Almas Libres, a theatre group celebrating and demanding farmworker and domestic worker rights for LatinX women in Sonoma County.
Jackie has a deep love and respect for the innate brilliance of young people. In 2014, along with seven other educators/activists, she co-founded play:ground NYC, an adventure playground built by and for young people that encourages risk taking. Jackie has volunteered with newcomer kids since 2006, offering arts-based programming, including with Refugee Transitions since 2016. She received her MA in Social Practices and Public Forms from CCA in 2017.
